What an incredible week! I can barely believe so much time has gone past because it has certainly been a typhoon of events. I got this "great" last shot of the U.S.A. from my seat on the double-decker plane I flew on.
The first day was all sight seeing, fortunately, because I had quite severe jet-lag and was very groggy. We went to the Chiang Kai Shek Memorial and saw the changing of the guard.
We were also scheduled to tour a Buddhist/Taoist temple, but I had the brilliant fortune to get lost with a South African, an Australian (they are pictured standing beneath the flag pole on the left hand side in the memorial), and a Canadian couple. By the time they found us, we only had time for a quick picture in front of the temple (company tradition).

The memorial mausoleum has a lovely ceiling, and I got to experiment with the tones on my camera.

Training took off in earnest the next day, and I have done nothing but absorb massive amounts of information on very little sleep (the first night I woke up every hour, on the hour; the second night every two hours, on the hour). There's about fifty of us in training, from the US, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. Here we are playing a version on London Bridge for our Mandarin lesson.
We waited until evening and saw a beautiful nighttime skyline. Great fun!
